Kindness is rare, but valuable.

Yo guys,
Today was quite a busy yet interesting day and I believe that this day deserve its own post.

This morning I woke up at 6:15am. At 6:55am I woke up properly. With less than half an hour to get ready, like a ninja, I wizzed through the usual morning routine, brush teeth, pack bag etc, so fast that I forgotten to eat breakfast. By the time I realised, I was already on the train heading to uni.

Strangely enough, the train that I got on had seats in it. This in itself was unusual, given the morning peak hour crowds. But I accepted the space with happiness because I was carrying my plant press, that was holding 4 plants for examination, the press was bulky so the additional space was good.

Once I got to central, I met Bernie at the bus stop. It was a while since we saw each other so the catch up with her was nice. She was reading an article in the cosmo magazine about an injection to reduce addiction to drugs. We discussed the ideas behind it and the reasons why they want to make everyone else to have asian like genes for the purpose of being less addicted. The injection would also decrease alcohol tolerance levels so this drug leaves an important decision to be made before taking it.

Once at uni me and Bernie went separate ways. She had class at chemical science while I had class at civil engineering. For those who don't know my first Tuesday class is 5 hours straight. Luckily thought, we had a new lecturer covering the mathy side of the course. He was an awesome lecturer who took a break every hour regardless of what he was up to in the lecture. He will definitely get a good catei from me.

After 5 hours of intensive maths lecturing and tutorals, I feel as though my 4u maths skills from 4 years ago is resurfacing from the dead. I figured that I can do some bits but others just felt like a guess. I must confessed though...I did miss doing maths and doing these tutorials just brings me back to the enjoyable areas of algebra, calculus and differentiation.

Once class was done, it was straight to the bioscience laboratory. Today we looked at plant roots. Had to look at one prepared slide and figure out what was what. Then we had to prepare another slide ourselves. When I was unwrapping the blade used to cut samples, I accidentally cut myself with it. Thankfully it was a brand new blade so it was definitely clean and I won't get infected by some unknown bacteria or disease. My friend gave me a band-aid when I opened it there was nothing inside. I had a laugh about it, despite the cut giving out alot of blood, which in hindsight I should have been more serious about. Eventually my friend found a not so dodgy band-aid and I applied it on the laughter died and back to lab work we went.

Because I had a haircut a few people in the lab that I usually associate with did not recognize me at first. One response from Melvin was: OMG I didn't recognize you without your hair dude. The way he said it made me lols. Anyway after we did a good amount of the require lab work. I worked on identifying the plants that was inside my plant press. All was identified except for one, a mysterious pink thing which, from my knowledge, I believe it is a Indigofera....which has about 700 subtypes... FML...

Once the lab was done, it was straight to geosoc meeting. First person I saw was Emma, the president, apparently she and her boyfriend broke up over the last 3 weeks which was why she was essentially out of commission. The meeting was one of the most productive meeting we had and the agendas that was building up was killed off in that one meeting. I am excited for the events to come for geosoc, however I know that it is almost time...almost time to hand geosoc over to the next generation of executives. Details on why I help started geosoc shall be saved for time I pass it over.

After that I headed home. I met up with Mike who went to med revue scripts block. To him it was a different type of experience that one would not usually go through. We took the bus back from UNSW to the city. He had his stuff at UTS with his "friend" so I took the train ahead of him.

Once back in Cab, the worse thing happened. My car wouldn't start up. After calling dad and about an hour and a half of trying to get it to start we figured the battery was screwed. We needed a jump cable to get the car going. For the next half hour I tried to get people to stop so I can ask them if they had a jump cable, most people drove past while people who were parked nearby locked their doors thinking I was a crazy random....this is why I don't like late 20s asian people they are overly paranoid and not kind.

However, one guy did stop by and said he had jumper cables at his place which was at the end of the road. After 10 minutes of waiting he came back with the jumper cables and with its magic of electricity my car started once again.

My dad talked with him for a bit and we found out that he had some spinal injury that prevents him from bending over. My dad offered to make some traditional chinese herbal medicine to help with his back as thanks for helping us. When it comes down to traditional chinese medicines, among asians this is quite serious business, the two men had serious tones in their voices which made me feel as though I should stay out of the conversation.

At the end of the night the car started working again and my dad made another friend who I think he'll be close with. I think I'll offer him a thank you gift in the future.

Later nights

Dancing science and revue

Hey guys,

Yeh I know it has been a while since I have updated my blog. So what have I been up to?

I had been practicing and rehearsing for the korean film festival. I must admit even though there was an ok crowd. The place that we danced in was amazing. The architecture reminded me of victorian times, the place echoed and it was circular. Visually the place was very appealing.
I wouldn't mind doing another performance there...or a flash mob k-pop dance there.
It was recorded and now just waiting for amazing video editors to put it up on facebook and watch the tax grow.

Speaking of tax, one of the greatest surprise this week is. I have tax from high school. Tax that I thought would be ignorant of the things I do.

The other major thing that kept me busy was SCIENCE! For one of my courses I have a field trip. Since I am one of the drivers I had to figure out where I am picking people up and how to get to the location of study. I am used to geoscience field trips which are quite straightforward from the get go. But a biological field trip feels like going to another planet. From the basis that I have no idea what to expect from it. So I am actually quite excited.

My field trip group got an equipment list and since I am a driver I "volunteered" to take it. FML the box of science gear was actually heavy. However this lead to some interesting interaction with people that needs to be further investigated.

What is this interaction I talk about?
Well, when carrying a box most you meet, greet and/or walk by wonders what is inside the box, especially when it seems very heavy, randoms included.

Why do I say this?
After being kicked out of my computer lab, I decided to take the next half an hour enjoying the sun and breeze outside. During those 30 minutes I noticed that everybody who walked by made a flicker with their eyes in my direction, I wasn't wearing anything standoutish so I assumed it was the box that they were looking at. I came to this conclusion when a total of four friends who walked by me at different times, saw me and asked me what was in the box.
In conclusion, I feel as though this will make an interesting social experiment in the future. Possibly involving free food.

Anyway the only sad thing about this field trip is not being able to perform at moon festival... When I heard that JGK'd was going to perform there I was gleeful...till I saw the date of my field trip.
*Major sadface*
I wish for the JGK'd crew to dance awesome enough for the people who are not there and of course. Enjoy the student friendly food in Cab.

Other major thing that occurred this week. Law revue......what can I say about it. I heard rumors of the show. It wasn't as I feared but was not as average as I hoped it to be. Sketches ranged from awkwardly bad to decent leaning towards the former more. Dances...were...to put it nicely...done before...recently...Regardless I am not too worried about Law revue since I am not as attached to it as I am for CSE and Med revue. Med revue was a good success last semester and based on what I know I believe CSE would follow in the same suit and be just as awesome as Med revue.

So that is all for this blog update.
Later days!

Its all a blur!

Do or do not. There is no try. -Yoda

So it has been 5 days since I last blogged. It has all been a blur with everything going on. So sum each day as briefly as possible and as much as I can remember. xD
This week an awesome Lion King Medley was stuck in my head: Lion Kingness

Wednesday
So yeh, I don't remember what I did that day until the k-pop class. LOL. Usually that means I'll be doing something mostly study related. Involving reading journal articles and/or writing assignments. To the part I do remember...vaguely. We learnt the dance Hug Me Once By Girls Day. The best part of this dance was forming a guys only group and becoming Guys Day. Oh yeh!
Overall I enjoyed the class heaps the choreography was fun especially when we were learning the rise and fall twist move which me and Kevin failed to start with because we did it opposite to Jibbie, David and a random, Andrew was his name I believe, but towards the end we got it spot on and the dance as a whole looked good.
After that I headed to Manly. For those who don't know to get to Manly by bus, you have to get a bus from Wynyard to Neutral Bay and exchange buses at Neutral Bay to Manly. I missed the exchange at Neutral Bay buy 5 seconds. If I had ran I probably would have made it, but I was awkwardly carrying two bags which lagged me. Had to wait 20 minutes for the next bus.
While looking around in that 20 minutes I realised how safe I felt to be waiting for a bus at Manly. As oppose to say Cabramatta. Anyway the bus came, I got on and arrived at my aunt's place.

Thursday
This day was work day. So I had to be ready to be picked up by 9am. The awesome thing about this work is that my boss picks me up from my aunt's medical centre which is literally 5 minutes walk from my aunt's place. Thus I can sleep in a bit ^_^.
After arriving at my Aunt's medical centre I was met with not my boss but my co-worker, Doug, he said the boss was busy with work for the council and that we were on our own with doing work that day. The task that was left for us was to collect data of bandicoot sightings around Manly. This was interesting because we collected data from the local environmental centre, the centre was consisted mainly of kind old people who wanted to do good even in their old age. They were quite knowledgeable and had alot of passion for what they did. It was quite inspiring.
After we collected the data, we headed back to the office and was set off to do our tasks. To quickly sum up how work went. I felt as though I was productive and did some good in the office. The most exciting news of that day was when my boss called me and said I am going to be writing up a report for one of his clients next week which would have my name on it. ^_^

After work, I headed home. No rest for the wicked! This time I took the ferry back. I missed the ferry by 5 minutes and the next one was coming in 20 minutes. So I decided to have a dinner. My dinner was a deliciously warm and creamy chicken wrap drenched in lemon and honey dressing. With a lipton tea and chips on the side.

The trip took about 1 hour and 40 minutes to get back I don't remember what time I got back but I was glad to be home to just sleep.

Friday
Crazily busy day this one day was. I remember getting up at 8.30am to take my sister to school and my cousin to the station. Got back home to eat breakfast and finish writing up my reading summaries...which was due at 11am. At about 9:40ish I headed off and drove to uni. ^_^
Driving to uni is awesome, less worry about buses and I don't have to worry about getting home late at night. Once there headed to a lab to print out my summaries and then headed to class. Class was alright the topics this week was less interesting and I didn't contribute much to the discussion. However we did manage to organise carpooling for the field trip and bunking arrangements. Awesome one less thing to worry about!
After that I headed off to meet with Charmaine who was the costumes organiser for one of the revues. She needed a favour from me to help her buy fabric. So we met and I drove us to a materials shop near USNW....It took a while for us to figure out what to buy since she wanted a spicific blue. All the blues in the store did not match the blue she wanted. >_> Its like how many shades of blue are there?
Anyway after deciding what to buy we headed back to UNSW where I parked my car...in a safe spot...against parking fines.
We went our separate ways, it was about 4.20pm I knew I will miss the first k-pop class when I saw the time. However my stomache began to grouch at the fact I did not eat since about 8am. The new mission: Bukkake from mappin. Honestly, I was worried about buying take away mappin since I have not done that nor seen anyone order take away before. It made for an awkward situation with the guy at the counter when I made my order. lol
After arriving at CO I couldnt help but notice that most of the IJGK'd group didn't take the class. Still it was awesome to eat with them around, than eating by myself. Friday's class was So Good by Sistar. Me, Kelvin, Jibbie and David were part of the IJGK'd sub unit, Brotar. I agree with Kelvin it does sound like something from warcraft... Anyway the most climatic scene of the night was the dance battle between us and Tommi's group. Obviously we won.......and I'll leave the rest of my comments to myself lol.
After class I headed to China Town to meet with with Kay. One of my best friends from high school. We went to a Japanese restaurant and spent about 1-2 hours catching up on the past four years. We caught up on alot, things that happened, what we were doing with our lives and the such. It reminded me of the good old high school days when we used to chat alot. (p.s. ship definitely not happening)

After dinner headed to uni to get my car and go home. The buses to UNSW was alot less common at that time but whatever the catchup was worth it.

Saturday
So yeah Saturday was rehearsing for the Korean Film Festival. Learning DBSK again. After doing it I realised how much I can forget in 1-2 months which was too much. So that day consisted of us reminding our bodies of dbsk and teaching Whitney how to be Daniel and Jibbie.
After rehearsals I headed home and headed to a friend's birthday who lived in Carramar. The party was alrite, food was self serve but I know I am a good BBQer so it was good. The crowd for this party consisted of parkour and pharmacy people. I don't know the birthday girl well but I know everyone else well enough which was good enough for me. The parkour group called me to climb a brick wall, roughly 1 and a half of my height. It has been about half a year since I last did parkour and I was worried that I was out of practice I made the climb and found that it was effortless. Did dancing  improved my parkour skills??? I need to get back into it once uni is over =D

After the party headed home and began sending out emails to geosoc executives to start them on organising an event to happen in 3 week T_T. After that was done. I just jumped into bed and slept.

Sunday

Yes I am up to Sunday!!!
I woke and headed straight to CO. I thought I was going to be late since weekend trains were slower than weekdays train. However, magically I still got there on time. O_O.
We spent that time practicing dbsk and taught Carmen Roly Poly. I failed to hard >_<. I remembered most parts in bits and pieces and do not remember the order for the pointing part. I will be working on the pointing bit until I get it!
After rehearsals most of us and many others went to the I need a Girl workshop, featuring Jaye and Whitney. There were alot of people in this class but it was to be expected. With the fact that we had to have a partner to take this class. Alot of ship potentials was floating around. My partner for this dance was Nancy. Our dance was lols because she kept shying away from looking at my face. If anyone remembers my flirting face from, Before You Go practice, I was using that here. I felt it was appropriate ^_^.
After the class the IJGK'd group headed to late lunch. When we were at Cha Time, I headed off to the nearest atm fee free for St George users. After that I called up Carmen to find out where the group was. She left me hanging. I called Daniel who was obviously more reliable (=p). He picked up and told me where they were. Once part of the group again we had our late lunch and just chilled the time away, talking about ships, todays class and well ships. Was a good DnM session.
After a time we decided its time to disperse and head back. Jibbie, Ruby, Whitney and Jaye headed in the townhall direction while the rest of us went to central. Once at central we parted ways with Elena, Yuki and Carmen. At our platform we waved by to Carmen and Elena who's train was still at the station and said bye to Kevin who got the western Line train. The train back was David, Daniel and me. (Cabra sub unit?) On the way back me and Daniel gave ideas of how David can start a ship with Shaneye. It was good fun.
We separated ways at Guildford and I was forever alone going to Cabramatta. I thought about when was the last time I blogged. Surely, this week was a real blur of things happening, coming and going.

Be blogging soon

Not some, not half. All but one.

You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it. - Robin Williams

Yo guys, its been a few days since I last blogged. So to begin with the quote; at uni I saw a poster promoting the Comedy Gala that will be held at UNSW roundhouse. I think it will be awesome as, a good, live, standup comedy is an experience in itself that has an atmosphere that is different from a dance show. I don't know you just have to have been at one to get what I mean. However I digress, the reason I used this quote for this entry is because I am a fan of Robin Williams actor, comedian and great charmer. Had been a strong fan of his since I'd first watch his movie...it has been so long that I can not remember which movie I'd watched first. Anyway his most recent work was an advertisement for Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3ds.

Mr Williams, he still has it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bINUfbLV_0M

I must admit it is one of the most wittiest lines I have ever heard and wish he was my wing man or he let me be his wing man.

So on to the last few days. It was just busy. To those who don't know. I practice another type of dance. Latin dance, specifically Salsa and Bachata. These style is a partner dance style which moves to latin beats on the timing of 1,2,3 and 5,6,7. Some moves are more saucer than one would be comfortable with but it is still fun since its all for dance.

So as a result I am a part of the Latin Dance Society at UNSW and is part of the performance crew. The thing that kept me busy was rehearsing for a parade to mark the start of the university's ARTS week. However things did not go to plan...well I and a few latin dance executives had worries about this event.
  • The first alarm bell that got me worried was, the flow of information between us and the ARC organisers was sparse and we had very little information about the event.
  • The second bell shot off a week before the parade, there was no plan for rehearsal times =S.
  • The last alarm bell went off on the day......no one knew of the event...
Our performance group was meeting outside the organisers office. So I decided to head there early and hunt down for information. What I uncovered was worse than the alarm bells. All other societies pulled out of the event that morning! When I told the group about it. Alan laughed and made a quote - "Not some, not half. All but one society backed out of the parade". But who can blame them, as evident from the three alarm bells above, even I would consider pulling out.

However, regardless of what happened to the parade the performance group decided to go on ahead. We didn't want our time and makeup to be wasted...well for the girls of course.

Us before we went on the "parade"

The end of the "parade"

Looking at the last picture now. I feel as though I should not have done the proper dip technique >_>.

If I see a video of the choreography, I'll link it on facebook. =p

Now to less climatic things.

So some may know that I have found work. Not just any work, but work in my area of study *_*. That in itself is awesome. From last weeks experience I feel as though I did very little and was not productive at all. The uni work pile had started to add pressure leaving me debating if I want to continue this kind of life style. I talked to many people concerning this topic; friends, post graduates and family. So in the end I decided to just stick with work for the time being. This would most likely lead me to skip more Wednesdays k-pop classes in the future... ='[
However I keep reminding myself, IJGK'd are like family. They'll understand and I can come back anytime.

The last topic of this blog. Field trip! So after 3 and a bit years of university. I am finally going on a field trip with my one of my first university friends. We had been doing similar course in first year, but somehow we never had field trips together. The trip will be to a park called Kioloa.

It is at the A

This is a 3 and a half hour car ride down there and I will be driving. But still I can not wait for this because...well...who wouldn't enjoy a field trip.  ^_^

I will dedicate a blog to this field trip after I have gone on it. This field trip did cost me a few things. But I am so very excited for it and can not wait to get there!

Thanks again for taking a glimpse into the life of Huy.

The opening sketch

"If you don't do something yourself, nothing will ever happen. But... If you work... If you do something... Something will definitely change." -Toua Tokuchi

Through the efforts of two IJGK'd members and the need for me to complete a trend. I am starting a blog. What will I talk about? I don't know. How will it be structured not too sure, but I will definitely try to always start with an awesome quote. When will I update? When I have time.

Lets start with the quote I started with. The quote above is currently my favourite from a manga called One Outs, which was why I used it. When I added it to the start of my blog for some reason it seemed like the perfect quote to start my first blog with. For those who do not know, One Outs is a manga about a baseball team in Japan aiming for the top spot in major league baseball. The real kicker of this series that keeps me reading is the psychological aspect of the story and the many plot, twists and turns that the main character stages. Overall a good manga that should be read.

What else is there to talk about... I thought of writing about the last 21 years of my life to get everyone up to date with how I came to be how I am. But I feel as though that will take alot more time than I am willing to commit to my first blog. So I will summarize the last 24 hours instead.

So 24 hours ago I would have been taking the train home from the city. A few hours before I had taken 2x k-pop classes and 1x RnB class. In the k-pop classes we taught dances to the song Be Mine by Inifinite and Bubble Pop by Hyuna/4minute. The choreography was enjoyable but because it was $5 week there were alot of people in class making it a bit hard to avoid hurting people. Regardless, this week I was a overly excited for the k-pop class. The reasons were; One: Deb decided to come along and watch/try. Second Tracy started to take k-pop at crossover.

The first reason was exciting because it is always nice to introduce someone to the dance scene and see their reaction to how they take the class. The second reason was exciting because she was a revue friend. Me and a good number of revue people had gone back a long way...since first year of uni to be precise. Details of why I am excited around revue will be saved for another day.

The next class I took was RnB class by Lauren. And my god she is an amazing dancer. At the end when she thanked everyone the only word I can think of to describe it, is cute xD. The choreography in itself was girly but it was still really good. I think I will consider taking more RnB classes in the future. To those interested...a possible ship occurred. During RnB one girl kept bumping into me during the choreography. During a drinks break she said sorry to me and kept practicing the dance. Because she was short she couldn't see the choreography, so being the nice guy I am I decided to help her out and showed her what the steps were. Other details are left out...but towards the end of the lesson we were on good talking terms. As a teaser I had to escort her to Star City because her dad was there to pick her up.

The train ride home was not very exciting. Was exhausted from taking three classes in a row and I sat there doing the Sudoku. This time round I did not manage to complete it before getting home.

Sudoku: 1    Huy: 0

I think for purposes of lols. I will keep a score board of my Sudoku records. One rule to keep this simple. I can only tally Sudoku games that I have done within 24 hours of writing the blog.

Got home, chilled, slept and got up the next day. The morning was not very eventful, but I made some major decisions. Foreseeing that my life will become extra busy within the next few weeks. I will be doing what a friend of mine is doing and make a to do list everyday and keep up with it. I also had a look around Bowden Park. Seeking inspiration for my research assignment to be decided by Monday, no pressure at all. Whilst walking, seeking for inspiration, I realised how I look at plants with a different eye ever since I started taking plant courses. I observed how some plants grew differently and had different leaf types, sizes, flower colours and the such and me wondering why a plant would evolve in such a way.

Ah evolution, such an interesting theory that was produced by Darwin. Today when I was over at a high schoolmates place for dinner. I had a deep discussion with a friend studying health science of why would an Oshaott, a bipedal organism, would become a Samurott, which was a quadrupedal. Who says science can not be applied to fun stuff? This lead to some interesting and logical reasoning's if pokemon were real and not just an 8 bit piece of data in a game cartridge.

The last thing I will put down is my high school mate's recount of his Japan trip. I am bringing this up because his childhood and teenage years were not per say was the best and he did have a tough time. The thing that he wanted the most was to go to Japan because of his love for the country. About 3 months ago he became aware of an opportunity for him to study in Japan for a month, financially it was not possible. So as his oldest and closest friends from high school a number of us chipped in to help him pay for the program. Jelly am I? Maybe. However I digress, the main point is, the guy the greatest time of his life. He managed to summarize the last week of his experience a little bit under 2 hours. To sum up the summary, it was just like a korean drama that would leave fans raging.

That you see was a glimpse of the last 24 hours of my life.
I must admit blogging was fun to do. I may consider doing it more in the future

 So later days
